Arriving at the ER

My husband recalls that when I arrived at the hospital he noticed something was wrong because I wouldn’t talk to him.  Then I looked at him and said, “Sir, can you please call my grandmother?”  At that point he knew something was terribly wrong since my grandmother passed in 2005.
He then waited until all the doctors and nurses left the room and when we were finally alone he approached me.  He asked me “Do you know who I am?”  I then said, “You work here, right?” He responded, “No, I’m your husband.”  I looked at him strangely and said, “I’m not married! Now sir, can you please call my grandmother?”  He then asked my name.  I told him my maiden name.  He took a few steps back and left the room.

The Fall

According to my husband the day was pretty ordinary.  He worked nights so he was sleeping, until I quietly woke him.  I asked him to please accompany me to the kid’s school because it was the last day for enrollment.  I also needed to run a couple of errands.  Everything went as planned, except when I went to change the ink in our printer my husband explains that I leaned to the right while sitting and seemed to be out of balance.  He quickly responded after I verbalized that I was not feeling well. “Don’t worry honey I’ll change the ink for you.” He says I walked toward the laundry room and not even a minute later he found me on the floor and unresponsive. I don’t remember any of that.

The Beginning

For the world it was Saturday, February 4, 2012. As for me I had to continuously repeat to myself that we were not in 1992.  The world was different and so were the people that surrounded me. It felt like I was and am living a lie or someone else's life.  The only comfort I found was in knowing that I was a Christian and that God would see me through this.  One of the most comforting verses He gave me is Ruth 4:4 -Blessed be the Lord who has not left you this day. Currently, I am married and have 3 beautiful children. By following my blog you and I can discover how I got here, and what occurred during this 20 year lapse.
